IMPORTANT!! PLEASE BRING AT LEAST 3 PISTOL MAGAZINES & A RIGID PISTOL HOLSTER.

 

SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US. THEREFORE WE ASK THAT NO WEAPONS ARE HANDLED UNTIL

AUTHORIZED BY AN INSTRUCTOR FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAINING.

 

Basics of Pistol Shooting Course (Course #BPS-001)
 

Course Length: (5 hours)

Course Tuition: $85.00

Student Limit: 10

 

Instructor Led Training (Phase II) topic(s) include:

  • Firearm and range safety review

  • fundamentals

  • practical handling exercises using each action type with dummy ammunition

  • shooting positions

  • shooting to a standard with a qualification shoot requirement.

 

The NRA Basic Pistol Course is a blended training course, which means a portion of the course (Phase I) is conducted in an eLearning environment (online), that can be completed on your own time. Upon successfully completing the online exam, students will be required to register for the instructor-led training portion (Phase II), which is to be conducted at your local range with an NRA Certified Instructor. You must successfully complete Phase I and Phase II in order to receive your Basic Pistol certificate.

Advanced Pistol Course (Course #APC-101)

Basic Pistol (#BPC-001) and/or approved proficiency equivalent is a pre-requisite to attend

Advanced Pistol Course.

  • Mental conditioning and combat mindset

  • Review of shooting fundamentals

  • The natural action stance and thumbs forward grip

  • Methodology of shooting the semi-automatic pistol

  • Presentation from ready pistol

  • Presentation from the holster

  • Threat assessment and area scanning

  • Ammunition management and reloading techniques

  • Malfunction clearance drills

  • Engaging multiple threats

  • Failure drills

  • Weapon retention

  • Use of the flash sight picture vs. perfect sight alignment

  • Introduction to tactical speed shooting concepts

  • Front sight proximity shooting
